Contract Catering Manager Required – St Andrews 

My client has a unique opportunity for an experienced catering manager to join them at one of there Independent School partners within their St Andrews based location.

My clients do things a little differently from other food service providers. Their business is built on reputation and recommendations. They pride themselves on putting service and food first. They put enthusiastic creative people in creative positions, and encourage individuality, professionalism and personality in all their customer service roles. Their catering management professionals are financially astute, and lead from the front, you will never see them behind closed doors during service times.

As my clients catering manager, you will be able to provide clear evidence of stable progression throughout your career.  You will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working at management level within schools and or further education. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside a growing company within a well-established school.

The successful candidate will oversee the busy day to day catering operation and along with a team of 17 you will provided breakfast, morning, afternoon snacks, lunch, dinner & hospitality services. There will also be a requirement to provide services out of term time within the schools “commercial lets program” You will need to be commercially minded, have a critical eye for detail, phenomenal people skills and a real love for fresh seasonal local produce.

Salary & Benefits

  • £37,500 Per Annum
  • 28 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays) – The School is closed over Christmas & Easter
  • Working 5 days out of 7 days

Responsibilities and Key Points

  • At least three years in a Catering Manager, Group Manager or Operations Manage position within Education or Independent Education
  • Experience of managing a turnover in excess of 1 million per annum
  • A high integrity and personal standards with the drive and determination to succeed
  • A strong, proactive team player approach with a track record of developing teams
  • An ability to innovate and delegate
  • Commercial and strategic acumen
  • The ability to be able identify new opportunities and develop strategies
  • To ensure budgets are achieved and exceeded wherever possible
  • Extensive experience in a multi-disciplined service environment
  • A love for fresh food and quality service – a real “Foodie”
  • To be able to communicate at all levels efficiently
  • Ensuring food quality & standards of service are to company & client standards
  • All HSE & Food Safety meets company & client standards and UK legislation
  • Completing audits, compiling action plans and reports
  • To build strong and productions relationships with your clients
  • Ensuring completion of appraisals, investigations, coaching and all HR procedures providing support as required
  • Carry out all recruitment process interviews, inductions and team training as required
