Head Chef – 40 Hours Per Week – 5 Out of 7 – 52 Weeks Per Year – £30,000 Annual Salary

Our client is an independent and vibrant Contract Catering Company, with a reputation for excellence. They pride themselves on delivering exceptional standards, a total fresh food policy and service delivered with individuality, passion and style.

My client currently has an excellent opportunity for a creative and effective Head Chef to join and become part of the team at an Independent Day and Boarding School in Cirencester.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all Food service areas for the day’s business relating to that meal service.
  • Ensure that the prompt service of all meals and service at all times to the company / clients standards.
  • To ensure that the methods of preparation and presentation comply with company expectations.
  • Prepare, set-up, serve, clear, clean and store away any food, beverage or equipment required for special functions.
  • Prepare all food for sale/service, following good hygiene and safety practices and to the standard specified.
  • Restock and replenish stocks and consumables as required during service periods, pre-empt customer needs and achieve optimum customer service delivery.
  • Keep the Front of house informed of any food running out and pre-empt any delays in customer waiting.
  • Complete all / any necessary cleaning/hygiene duties.
  • Serve customers, visitors and guest in line with company and client service standards and expectations.
  • Empty, remove and store rubbish / recycle rubbish in the correct place.
  • To assist in the preparation of planning menus to offer variety, maximise on the use of seasonal products and ensure costs are line with the agreed budget.
  • To assist in preparation of staff rota and be able to identify training needs.
  • To assist in placing orders in accordance with the company purchasing policy.
  • Ensure that the kitchen operates in line with current health & safety regulations.
  • To ensure all area under your direct control are left in a clean state at the end of each shift.
  • To attend meetings and training courses as required.
  • Be prepared to occasionally work evening and/or weekend for functions and school events.

Essential experience required

  • At least 1 year of Head Chef experience in a contract catering operation in either a B&I or Education environment (high volume preferable)
  • Consideration will be given to a passionate Sous Chef; you would need at least 2 years of Sous Chef experience within a contract catering business

Legal requirements

  • All candidates must be eligible to work in the UK
  • Clean Enhanced DBS (this will be fully funded by the company)
