My client is looking for a talented Pastry Chef to support the team at this absolutely stunning Independent Boarding School in Epsom, Surrey.

Working with a team of Chefs you will be responsible for preparing high quality food for staff and pupils, as well as for functions and other showcasing events and in particular the patisserie, desserts and bakery menus.

You will be qualified at least to City and Guild level 2 or equivalent in NVQ as well as level 2/3 in patisserie, bakery and confectionery and have a passion to produce and present high quality food.

Job Requirements & Key Skills:

  • Prepare, cook and present high quality food including preparation of pupil’s special allergies, ensuring that all recipes are processed with catering analysis
  • Maintain the production of menus in pastry section , and assist where necessary with purchasing
    of products and developing menus keeping up with trends and seasons
  •  Plan and carry out all Food Safety, Allergen and Health and Safety Regulations. Ensuring the all
    documentation and procedures are followed
  •  Undertake all aspects in the cleaning of equipment within the sections of the kitchen and dining
    room – walls (up to 2 metres), floors, fixtures, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, and glassware ensuring
    that the correct products and PPE equipment are used According to the cleaning rota or as directed
  • Monitor and report on production activities and provide relevant management information.
  • Maintain and report on equipment, ensuring that all equipment breakdowns are reported to duty manager and that staffs are aware that equipment is faulty.
  • To ensure a high standard of personal and general cleanliness and hygiene to comply with statutory regulations.
  • Liaise and attend meetings with other chefs, and carry out functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and development.
  • Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills

  • Good eye for detail and be confident working within budgetary constraints.

  • A passion for baking great cakes and pastries and have respect for fresh produce
  • Flare for presentation of food.

  • All candidates must be eligible to work in the UK
  • Clean Enhanced DBS will be required
  • Identity and history checks covering over 5 years will be required
